“I am not going to New York to meet some woman who could be a crazy, sick lunatic! Didn’t you see Fatal Attraction?”

To find a good romantic comedy these days isn’t the easiest thing. It seems like the golden age of romcom ended sometime in the late 90′s. Therefore, one must go back a couple of years to find these wonderful treasures. Some think I’m not a romance person, because of my passion for explosions, violence and “my gun is bigger than your gun”-movies. But truly, Sleepless in Seattle has a special place in my heart.

Not only does it feature one of the best actors in the world, mr Tom Hanks, but it’s done with care and alot of heart. Not like Valentines Day which came out earlier this year, that only seemed to have been made to lure unknowing teens, with crushes on Bradley Cooper and Taylor Lautner, to the cinema. And like most the times, Jessica Alba was only there to make the boyfriends happy.

“Sleepless” has got a real story. Sam’s wife is dead, he’s depressed and his son is desperate to make him happy again. Annie feels like she’s never truly been in love and is afraid of what she’ll miss if she decide to settle.
It’s all there. All you need for a great story. This movie was released in 1993, and to this day women (and a couple of men) all over the world refer to it as their favourite movie. Why? you might ask. Watch it and you’ll know.

I want you to meet me at the top of the Empire State Building.

Sitcoms. So many are made but so few are remembered, they almost never stand the test of time and the story is always the same. I recently came up with the excellent idea to look up some shows I watched as a kid, and to my surprise, one was even better than I remembered.

Bosom Buddies is an early 1980′s sitcom starring Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari as best friends Kip and Henry who after losing their appartment are desperate for a new one. When they can’t find any good or cheap ones, their friend, who happens to be madly in love with Henry, ask them to come stay with her. Only problem is that her house is for women only. Kip and Henry must now decide if they should leave this wonderful place and all these pretty women or if they should just bite the sour apple and do what they have to: dress like women. They chose alternative two and bang! We now have a lovely piece of sitcom classic.

Of course, I wasn’t around to see this in the early 80′s but instead of kindergarden, when mom needed extra sleep, I was brought up on 90′s early morning sitcom reruns. The Golden Girls, MASH, Family Matters and yes, Bosom Buddies. MASH was never a favourite back then, it’s not really the kind of jokes a 5 year old would understand, but what that show had, as well as Bosom Buddies, was real charm and talent. Bosom Buddies with Hanks incredible skills and charisma, Peter Scolari’s funny quirkyness and their great chemistry has lead to something real. The jokes are real the friendship is real and the characters could very well be real. It is truly a great show and the humour has, unlike the previously mentioned shows, stood the test of time.

What does one have to do to get a place in this town?
Kip and Henry knows.

Hello. I guess my first post should be one that will introduce me and my blog to the world.

I’ll start with me. Movies, television, comedy and so called nerdery is what makes this youngsters heart beat faster. For those who aren’t familliar with the term, nerdery is awesome. I like getting my geek on, I like knowing how to talk like Bill and Ted, I like bad action movies, ultra violence and jokes that are so bad they’re good. I love Saturday Night Live, cinemas, nerd gear and villains. My heroes are Coco O’Brien, Tom Hanks, Gary Oldman, Wayne and Garth. I never miss my towns yearly sci-fi convention and I have more nerd-related t-shirts than I have socks.
And now for some random facts: I have a bit of a Star Wars fetish, but I also have a Patrick Bateman fetish (I’m not sure that’s a good thing), I like to marathon watch TV shows, know alot about hair care, find the french language disturbing and cook like a pro.

My idea is that this blog will be about movies and television, and my thoughts and feelings about this. There might be some other things to read about as well. We’ll see as time goes by.
So.. I’ll write a real post later.

I hope you and me will both enjoys this. Ciao!
